We offer three main lesson types: Group Lessons, Private 1-to-1 Lessons and specialist IELTS Preparation. Group lessons are ideal for learners who enjoy practising with others in a small, interactive setting, while Private lessons give you fully personalised 1-to-1 support. Our IELTS Preparation lessons are our most specialised option, designed for learners working towards a specific band score with focused exam practice, strategy and targeted feedback.
Across these lesson types, we also cover structured general English, conversation practice, grammar and vocabulary, Business English, workplace English and Cambridge-aligned learning pathways for children, teenagers and adults.
What is Chatly?
Chatly is an online English academy offering live lessons with vetted native English-speaking tutors. We teach learners of all ages and levels, with structured courses for children, teenagers and adults, as well as conversation, Business English and IELTS preparation.
Who are Chatly lessons for?
Everyone is welcome. We teach children, teenagers and adults from beginner through to advanced level. Whether you are learning English for school, exams, work, travel or simply to speak more confidently, we can help you to improve and find the right tutor.
Are your tutors native English speakers?
Yes. Our tutors are carefully vetted native English speakers with the communication skills and experience needed to create engaging, supportive and effective lessons.
What curriculum do you follow?
Our core learning pathway is Cambridge-aligned and designed to build speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary in a structured way. Learners can progress through internationally recognised CEFR levels and prepare for exams such as A2 KET, B1 PET, B2 FCE and C1 Advanced CAE. We also offer more flexible lesson options, including conversation practice, Business English, workplace English, grammar-focused lessons and other goal-based English topics depending on what you want to improve.
What is the difference between Group and Private lessons?
Group lessons are taught in very small groups (max 3 students), allowing learners to practise English with both their tutor and other students. Private lessons are completely 1-to-1, giving the tutor more time to personalise each lesson around the learner’s level, goals and areas for improvement.
Do you offer IELTS preparation?
Yes. Our IELTS Preparation lessons are specialised 1-to-1 sessions designed for learners working towards a specific band score. Lessons can cover all four IELTS skills, exam strategy, timed practice, targeted feedback and recommendations for further study.
Can I pay for individual lessons instead of subscribing?
Yes. You can choose Pay as You Go and purchase a block of lessons without committing to a subscription. If you prefer regular weekly lessons and discounted prices, you can choose one of our subscription plans instead and save more with longer billing periods.
How do subscriptions work?
Choose how many lessons you would like each week, then select monthly, quarterly or yearly billing. Longer subscriptions receive a larger discount, and your selected lesson schedule continues throughout your subscription period.
Our subscriptions are designed to be flexible and can be cancelled anytime rather than locking you into an indefinite commitment. Any specific billing or cancellation terms will be shown clearly before buying.
What happens during a trial lesson?
Your trial lesson gives you the chance to discover what Chatly is all about, meet a tutor, experience their teaching style and discuss your English level and goals before committing to further lessons. It is also a great opportunity for us to recommend the most suitable learning pathway for you. Trial lessons last for 15 minutes and are completely free.
What if I only want to practise speaking English?
That’s completely fine. Not every learner wants to follow an curriculum pathway. We also specialise in conversation-focused lessons where you can practise natural English, improve pronunciation and vocabulary, and become more confident speaking in a relaxed, judgement-free environment.
Can I study Business English or English for work?
Yes. We offer Business English and workplace-focused lessons for learners who want to improve their English for meetings, presentations, interviews, professional communication and everyday international working environments.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?
You can cancel or reschedule a lesson up to 12 hours before the scheduled start time without any penalty. If you cancel with less than 12 hours’ notice or miss the lesson entirely, 40% of the scheduled lesson minutes will be deducted to compensate for the tutor’s reserved time.
If this happens more than twice within the same month, any additional late cancellations or missed lessons that month will result in 100% of the scheduled lesson minutes being deducted. This policy is there to keep things fair for everyone: tutors set aside that time specifically for each student and may otherwise lose paid teaching time at short notice, while missed or repeatedly cancelled bookings also prevent other students from using lesson slots that could have been available to them.
